Mauerfall is a special day in all of Germany. This celebration marks the anniversary of the Berlin Wall Collapse. It is important to note that the national holiday the “Day of German Reunification” is celebrated on October 3. This is the day that formal reunification took place. The actual day that the wall came down was November 9, 1989. Where most of Germany recognizes both days as significant. Berlin pays special attention to the “Mauerfall Tag” on November 9th. This year will be the 30th anniversary of the wall fall, and many Berlin events will be going on. More on that below!

Visiting for Berlin Mauerfall
This is a great time of year to visit Berlin. The weather can fluctuate from year to year but it is usually cool fall temperatures. This is also not the slowest tourist time of year in Berlin but it is by far not the busiest. Around the November 9th celebration you can take a walk around the the path of the wall where many of the exhibitions will be located close by.
